Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Elastic Stack (ELK) Subject Matter Expert (SME) with strong DevOps expertise. The ideal candidate will lead the design, deployment, management, and optimization of our Elastic Stack platform, while also contributing to broader DevOps initiatives including CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration, artifact management, secrets management, and API gateway integrations.
Key Responsibilities
- Elastic Stack (Primary Responsibility)
- Architect, deploy, and manage Elastic ECE / Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, and Beats/Fluent Bit clusters.
- Design and optimize indexing strategies, ILM (Index Lifecycle Management), and cross-cluster replication.
- Implement security best practices (TLS, certificates, RBAC, SAML/OAuth integration).
- Manage snapshot/restore, upgrades, scaling, and performance tuning for ELK deployments.
- Configure dashboards, alerts, ingest pipelines, and monitoring for business-critical applications.
- Troubleshoot log ingestion, indexing performance, CCR replication, and data retention issues.
- Collaborate with developers and operations teams to onboard new applications into the ELK ecosystem.
- DevOps / Platform Engineering (Secondary but Required Skills)
- Build and maintain GitLab pipelines for application and infrastructure deployments.
- Automate build/test/deploy workflows with GitLab runners (Kubernetes/VM-based).
- Deploy and manage applications in AWS EKS / OpenShift / Kubernetes clusters.
- Write and maintain Helm charts, K8s manifests, and operators.
- Manage container lifecycle, scaling, service mesh (Istio/Linkerd) if applicable.
- Configure HashiCorp Vault for secrets management.
- Integrate Vault with Kubernetes workloads (external secrets operator).
- Manage secret rotation, policies, and access.
- Administer Nexus Repository Manager (Maven, npm, Docker registries).
- Implement policies for artifact storage, cleanup, and access control.
- Manage Apigee API Proxies, products, quotas, and security policies.
- Support API teams with API lifecycle management and troubleshooting.
- Integrate ELK with Prometheus/Grafana/Dynatrace where applicable.
- Create monitoring/alerting for pipelines, clusters, and apps.
